Interesting thoughts on thought there...
During my studies I have encountered much Vygotsky, and feel this worth mentioning. As I interpret, he talks of thoughts as inner extensions to speech - which only arise due to acquisition of language (well, in a nutshell...!). If this be the case, the inseparable link between language and cultural identity would perhaps show the influence of our environment on our thoughts. This general concept does not outwardly shed any light on whether we may be predisposed to positive/negative thoughts, but does perhaps suggest that we are predisposed to certain perceptions regarding oneself and others and our societal roles.
Hmmm... I shall gather my 'thoughts' so to further add to this topic!

p.s. I onced approached the topic of 'thought' with a regular drinker at my local pub. His deeply pensive and intoxicated state led him to the following conclusion:
'I drink, therefore I am'

I studied A&P and I find it hilarious when young sales assistants in beauty stores start trotting out the spiel about how this that and the other ingredients are seeping into the skin, when precious few of these can actually do anything more than sit on top of it. When you start to question them on their facts they get very confused and try to backtrack, but the fact is they are just repeating a script and have no idea what it is they're actually saying.

It's not difficult to understand. The skin is there as a barrier, after all.
