Pollution: the Universal Enemy.
This is an attempt (slightly modified from the version posted on the 3rd July of 2007) to put within the words of one song how the biologist in me views pollution.
It is so very clear for all who care to see
Side products of our routine activity
Are eroding Earth’s life-supporting ability
Jeopardising the future of Humanity
Pollution is the Universal Enemy
Global warming and climate change happen to be
The major effects of it that we can clearly see
There are others if we care to look more closely
If we turn a blind eye we’ll all be found guilty
Of changing the Green Planet irreversibly
Thereby depriving unborn children of the future
Of Earth’s uniquely hospitable nature
Pollution truly is of our own making
Given time it will lead to Mankind’s undoing
So we’ll all have to make a genuine commitment
To preserve our unique environment
